MATHEWS - Capt. Harry B. Armistead, 77, passed away in a Newport News hospital on Saturday.
Capt. Armistead, who was a retired waterman, is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary Hudgins Armistead; two daughters, Mrs. Rufus B. Hudgins and Mrs. Hubert W. Hudgins, both of Mathews; two sons, Harry B. Armistead, Jr., of Mathews, and Alton G. Armistead, of Washington; four sisters, Mrs. Maggie Benser and Mrs. Velma Allbright, both of Baltimore, Mrs. Joseph Gayle and Mrs. Lemuel Burroughs, both of Mathews; one brother, Capt. John A. Armistead, of Mathews; one step-daughter, Mrs. Milton Jones, of Yorktown; three step-sons, Vernon Hudgins, Jr., Eugene Hudgins, and Robert Roland Hudgins, all of Mathews; four grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Funeral services were held on Monday at Beulah M. E. Church at 2 p.m. conducted by Rev. R. H. Shapland, pastor of the church, assisted by Rev. Mason Armistead and Rev. E. J. Nottingham, III.
