KATHERINE ELIZABETH "Betty" (HETTINGER) RING 1882-1963
KATHERINE RING OF STERLING DIES; FUNERAL TUESDAY--Katherine Elizabeth Ring, 80 of 532 State St., died Friday at her home following a lengthy illness. She had been a local resident since 1912. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday from Trinity Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Arthur Schmid officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Walters-Channey Funeral Home is in charge. Mrs. Ring was born Feb 5, 1882 in (Dietel) (province of Saratov), Russia to David and Mary E. Hettinger. She came to the United States in 1907, and she settled in Sterling, marrying Jacob Ring on March 21, 1909 here. They moved to Lincoln, Neb. and returned to Sterling in 1912. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church.
Survivors, besides her husband, include a son Edward Ring, of Sterling; and a daughter Mrs. Mary Ring Amen of Sterling. She was preceded in death by two sons and a daughter. Also surviving is a brother; Jake Hettinger of Pueblo, along with five sisters, Mollie Bangert of Russell, Kan; Eva Strecker of Bazine, Kan; Lydia Lackman of Sheridan, Wyo; and Anna Boutell of Amarillo, Tex.
