Leota Belle Burley, daughter of Howard and Alice Burley, was born August 23, 1895, in Polk County, Nebraska, and died May 29, 1984, at the Cherry County Hospital at the age of 88 years.

At the age of one Belle moved with her family to Keya Paha County where she was educated at the Norden School. She taught school one year before she married Frank Egelhoff on January 20, 1915, in Springview. They lived all their married life in the Norden area, farming and ranching. Belle moved to Springview in 1963 after the death of her husband, and for 10 years she kept are high school kids. She moved to Sunset Harbor Senior Citizens Home in July 1982.

Belle loved the outdoors needlework, reading and the company of youngsters. She was affectionately called Aunt or Grandma Belle by her friends and children.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother, two sisters, one granddaughter and one great-grandson.

Among survivors are two children, Franklin and wife Lillie of Norden and Cecile Lockie and husband Ted of Upper Lake, California; brothers Bill Burley of Mountain Home, Idaho, Marvin Burley, Eagle Idaho, and Kenneth Burley of Boise, Idaho; one sister, Florence Wright of Caldwell, Idaho; four grandsons, four granddaughters and 21 great-grandchildren.
