Howard T. Carroll
Howard T. "Cash" Carroll died June 19 at Ivinson Memorial Hospital in Laramie.
He was born May 20, 1917, at Ivinson Hospital.
He grew up on the Carroll Ranch, attending elementary school and high school in Laramie. In 1940 he graduated from the University of Wyoming with a degree in agriculture and a commission in the United States Army. He served in the army through World War II, at Dutch Harbor in the Aleutians and later as a training officer at Camp Wolters near Ft. Worth, Texas. He left the Army as a Lieutenant Colonel at the age of 29.
He married Jean Satra in 1946.
He worked for Prudential Insurance appraising ranch and farm lands and homes, making loans, until the 1950's, when he turned to full-time ranching, raising cattle and horses. The Carroll Ranch was the largest and oldest family owned ranch in Albany County.
He served on the City of Laramie Planning Commission, State Land Use Commission and the ARK Board. He was member of the Elks Lodge, Laramie Country Club, Association of Retarded Children, University of Wyoming Alumni Association and Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity.
Mr. Carroll is survived by his daughter, Teri of Laramie; three sisters, Mary Carroll Giffin of Galeta, Calif., Peg Miller of Cheyenne and Jeanne Whitney Miller of Wheatland; two brothers, Frank Carroll of Riverside and Michael Carroll of Laramie; a sister-in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jean S. Carroll; a daughter, Lori Carroll; and a sister, Tess Carroll Greaser.
Funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. June 25 at St. Laurence School Gym.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Humphrey, Cody Humphrey, Burt Humphrey, Marvin Holt, Gene Willoughby and Kenny Ballard.
Honorary pallbearers will be Mason Skiles, George Millett, Arthur T. Hanseum, Leonard McEwan, Robert Houston, Leo McCue and Larry Greene.
A reception at his home at 2103 Spring Creek will follow the services and interment at Green Hill Cemetery.
Friends may contribute to ARK and to the Developmental Pre-School.
