Sophia Barbara Meili, the daughter of Rudolf and Barbara Leinhard Meili, was born in Indiana township, Lincoln County Kansas. She attended school at Spring Valley. To further her education she attended Christ's Hospital School of Nursing in Topeka, graduating in June 1921 as a registered nurse. She worked as an RN in Topeka and Washington D.C. prior to her marriage. On December 24, 1924 she married Vere Quimby Cooper. She was active in many organizations including the Red Cross, American Legion Auxiliary and Women's Club of Topeka. She and Vere had no children. Sophia passed away at the age of 94 years.
