She married Elmer Embrey on September 2, 1947. They were blessed with 5 children: Howard, Phyllis, Sue, John, and Sharon. Elmer passed away July 19, 1981, and she married Angelo "Ted" Acton on September 27, 1989. She was blessed to be loved and embraced by his 5 children and their families. Ted passed away October 1, 2000.
Betty is survived by her children, Howard and his wife LaVona Embrey, Phyllis Embrey, Sue Parker, John and his wife Tronya Embrey, and Sharon and her husband Steve Harrington, 17 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her mother and father, her sister, her six brothers, her husbands, two sons-in-law, one granddaughter-in-law, one great-grandson, one stepson, and one stepdaughter.
She was a farmer most of her life and ran a successful fruit stand for several summers with her husband Ted. She drove a school bus and assisted other drivers for Moore Public Schools for more than 25 years.
She will be remembered for her musical talent, her work ethic, her sense of humor and storytelling abilities, her love of bluegrass music, OU football, softball, and women's basketball. More than these things though, her family will remember the love she shared with them.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, May 28, 2022, at 2:00pm at the John M. Ireland & Son Funeral Home & Chapel in Moore, OK. Graveside service will immediately follow at Smith Cemetery.
