Thomas Benton Hopkins

Thomas is often mistakenly identified as the son of Solomon Hopkins and Mary E. Hartley. However, he was actually the son of Hugh S Hopkins and his wife Mary Kennedy. Thomas married first Martha Simrell on 12 September 1861 in Cedar County, Missouri. They had five children (Mary Matilda, Martha, Margaret, Thomas, and John Samuel). He married second Nancy Simrell about 1875 in Missouri. He married third, Susie (Sudie) Masters Simrell on 27 March 1893 in Cedar County, Missouri. Martha and Nancy were sisters. Susie Masters Simrell was the widow of Dr John D Simrell, a cousin of Martha and Nancy.

He served in Civil War in Co. A 15th Missouri Vol. Cav.
