Mrs. Sallie Johnston, for many years a resident of this community, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Philip Pressley, in Dallas, Tuesday morning, Oct. 22, at 11 o'clock.
Mrs. Johnston was born in Panola county, Texas, Oct. 1, 1850, and the family came to this community in 1886. Her husband, T.J. Johnston, died at his home south of Mesquite, Oct. 1, 1903. For the past five or six years she had lived with her daughter, in Dallas. She is survived by the following children: Mrs. Laura Groves and Henry Johnston of Mesquite, Don Johnston of Heath, Hamilton and Jason Johnston of Rockwall, and Mrs. Rosa Pressley f Dallas.
Mrs. Johnston was a member of the Primitive Baptist church. She was a woman of many excellent qualities and had many friends, who regretted to learn of her death and who sympathize with the sorrowing children.
Interment took place at the Bennett graveyard, south of town, Wednesday afternoon. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Pool of Dallas.

The birth date on the tombstone is wrong. Based on her death certificate and census records she was born in 1850. And according to marriage records she was married in 1869.
