Leona L. Anibas, 81, of Mondovi went home to her Lord on Tuesday, June 24, 2008, at Dove Healthcare Nursing and Rehabilitation with her loving family at her side.
She was born on July 8, 1926, in Detroit to Edward and Eleanor (Brunner) Fedie. On July 14, 1943, she married LaVern Anibas at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Lima. They would have been married 65 years this year. Leona and her husband owned and operated Vern's Corner Grocery in Mondovi and the Hide a While Bar in rural Mondovi, where she enjoyed cooking. She enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking and writing in her diary. She loved all pets, especially cats. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Rock Falls and the St. Joseph's Altar Society.
She is survived by her husband, Vern Anibas of Mondovi; five children, David Anibas (special friend, Linda Anderson) of Eau Claire, Jerry Anibas of Elk Mound, Daniel (Nancy) Anibas of Mondovi, Randy (Nancy) Anibas of Mondovi and Sue (Norm) Fowler of Eau Claire; 13 grandchildren, Wendy (Paul) Martin, Mike Anibas, John Anibas, Jodi (John) Ritch, Jill (Chet) Holum, Ryan Anibas, Renee (Wayne) Hageness, Lisa (Nick) Wampole, Teri Anibas, Nathan (Stacy) Anibas, Melissa (Collin) Miller, Shelly Anibas (special friend, Iver Johnson) and Tina Fowler; 16 great-grandchildren; three brothers, John (Lola) Fedie, Glen (Bernice) Fedie and Larry (Mary Sue) Fedie; two sisters, Thelma (John) King and Sharon (Ron) Beyerstadt; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Bonnie Dregney; and her brother, Gene Fedie.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 30, 2008, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Rock Falls, with Fr. Victor Inbaraj officiating. Burial will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Rock Falls.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, June 29, 2008, at Kjentvet-Smith Funeral Home in Mondovi, where there will be a 5:30 p.m. scripture wake. There will also be visitation at the church on Monday for one hour prior to the Mass.
