~MY ANCESTOR~
He was thought to be descended from the Thompson family of Lenham, Kent Co, England. However, Gary Boyd in "Genealogies of Connecticut Families", 1983, shows that this is not possible. Anthony Thompson, son of Henry & Dorothy (Honywood) Thompson who was baptized in Lenham in 1612, only left a daughter as heir, so it is not possible that they are the same.

This Anthony Thompson is believed to have arrived in Boston on the "Hector" with two brothers, John & William, in 1637, in the company of Davenport & Eaton. He was a founder of Quinnipiack (New Haven), signing the Fundamental Agreement in New Haven on June 4, 1639.
He probably came with his first wife (name unknown) and three small children. His second wife was named Katherine.
After Anthony's death, she married NICHOLAS CAMP, on July 14, 1652 in New Haven Colony.

In 1643, there were four persons in his family, he had 17 1/2 acres of land in New Haven from the first division, 3 1/2 acres in the neck, 9 1/2 acres in the meadow, and 38 acres from the second division.

On July 1, 1644, he was administered the Oath of Fidelity by Theophilus Eaton, Gov. of New Haven Colony.
On March 10, 1646, Anthony Thompson was assigned the 6th row of the middle seats of the Meeting House.
His will was written March 23, 1647 in New Haven. His oldest son inherited the house, land & meadow (except his wife to have the house during her lifetime). Inventory: 236 pounds, 18 shillings, and 10 pence. His two brothers are mentioned in his will.

Known children from first wife: JOHN THOMPSON (my ancestor), Anthony Thompson, Jr., & Bridgett Thompson.

Known children from second marriage: Hannah, Lydia (Thompson) Crittenden, Ebenezer.
