Funeral services for Earl D. Studer were held on Wednesday afternoon, March 15, with a family service at the Parker Funeral Home at 1:30 p.m. and services at the Trinity Lutheran Church at 2 p.m., with the Rev. O. H. Cloeter, pastor of the church officiating. The eighth grade of Trinity Lutheran School sang, accompanied by Harlan Klemz, church organist. Pallbearers were grandsons of Mr. Studer and included: Edward Kath of Meridan, Jerry Studer of Le Sueur, James Schramm of Elysian, Charles Delaske of Waseca, James Studer of Waterville, and William Brown of Faribault. Interment was made in the family lot in the Meadow Ridge Memorial Park Cemetery in Faribault. Relatives and friends attending the services from away were from Waseca, Waterville, Le Sueur, Mankato, Minneapolis, Rochester, Owatonna, Janesville and Kilkenny. Earl Daniel Studer, the son of James and Mary Sapp Studer, was born at Glidden, Iowa on Nov. 12, 1887. Later, he moved to a farm in the vicinity of Estherville, Iowa and there he attended school and grew to young manhood. On Aug. 12, 1908, he was united in marriage to Miss Sophia Zerke at Estherville. For a number of years they made their home in Estherville, during which years Mr. Studer was employed with the railroad and also with a livery firm in Estherville. Later they farmed for a number of years in the Janesville-Waseca area, moving then to Waterville where Mr. Studer was engaged in business for several years. He moved to Kilkenny where he resumed farming, and then in 1941 they moved to Faribault where they have since resided. He was employed for a number of years with the Lampert Lumber Yard in Faribault and later with the Rice County Highway Department until his retirement. Mr. Studer passed away at the Rice County District One Hospital in Faribault on Saturday morning, March 11, following an illness of several months. He is survived by his widow, Sophia; by five daughters, Mrs. Albert Kath (Margie) of Waseca, Mrs. Dave Jeno (Edith) of Faribault, Mrs. Russell Brown (Irene) of Faribault, Mrs. Elmer Schramm (Helen) of Mankato, Mrs. Leo Delaske (Evelyn) of Waterville; by three sons, Ralph Studer of Le Sueur, Earl Studer of Waterville, and James Studer of Faribault; by 33 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren; by three brothers, Ross Studer of Spokane, Washington, Lyle Studer of Moline, Ill. and Warren Studer of Faribault; by a number of nieces and nephews and by other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents; by two sisters, Mrs. Mabel Wendell and Mrs. Lucille Rhein; and by a brother,Rollie, who died in early childhood. Mr. Studer was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church. He was an ardent sportsman, enjoying fishing and also baseball and other sports events.
