Occupation: 1848-1860 "is listed as a farmer; his farm-land was the SE 1/4 NW 1/4 Sec 7, town of Porter" purchased in May 1848.
1851 - Bought house in Waucoma (Cooksville) which burned down.
1861 bought "the house next door, . Lot 4" and that is where he passed on in 1862. He was buried in the Waucoma Cemetery (now Cooksville Cemetery).
His widow Oliva lived in this house with her sister Persis Sargent until Oliva's passing.
From The Home Of The Dead by Isaac A. Hoxie: "It was to the southeastern corner under embowering pines and matted foliage my attention was particularly directed. Here I found an unpretentious slab bearing the chiseled name of my father, Allen Hoxie...with this further beautiful inscription: "My faith is knowledge now"."
