The Chariton Leader, Chariton, Iowa
December 27, 1906

Mrs. Alcinda Burr died at the home of her son, CC Burr, in Warren Township this morning at 6 o'clock after a continued illness at the age of 83 years. She was born at Belmont, Ohio on July 13, 1824. On Nov 4, 1854, she was married to Milton J. Burr and to them were born 3 children of whom 2 are living. Josie S. Reed of Santa Ana, California and CC BUrr. In 1861, Mrs BUrr moved to this part of Iowa which was her home until her death at age 82 years and 20 days. Mother Burr was in her early life a member of the Quaker of Friends Church in Ohio. Since coming to Chariton, finding no church of her choice here, she entered her name in the ME Church, nevertheless holding to her early faith until the end. True to the Quaker faith she lived a Godly, patient and exemplary life, esteemed and loved by all who knew her, quiet and unassuming in her ways, always seeking to be a humble follower of her Master and Lord. Though often in pain, she did not complain, but said she was ready to go whenever the summons should come.
