He was a longtime Clovis resident. He graduated from Clovis High School in 1972 and attended Eastern New Mexico University. He married Dawna Pope September 14, 1981, in Las Vegas, Nevada. He worked for the State of New Mexico at the Licensing & Regulation Department as a mechanical and plumbing inspector.
He is survived by his wife, Dawna Baca of the home; 1 daughter, Kim Conte (Frank) of Clovis; 1 son, David Weems (Delia) of San Diego, California; mother, Lupe Baca of Clovis; 4 brothers, Leroy Baca of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Richard Baca of Clovis, Jerome Baca of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Gilbert Baca of New Braunfels, Texas; 1 sister, Carol Baca of Amarillo, Texas and 5 grandchildren, Justin, Mathew and Camryn Weems and Frankie "Scooter" and Nicolas Conte.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 18, 2008, at Steed-Todd Chapel. Burial will follow at Mission Garden of Memories.
Casket bearers will be David Weems, Richard Baca, Charlie Aguirre, John White, Frank Conte, Jerome Baca, Gilbert Baca, Leroy Baca and Steve Whittington
Memorial contributions may be made to the Ronald McDonald House of Lubbock, Texas.
