Athens, AL - A funeral for Calvin Mathews Downs, 68, of N. Clinton St., will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Northside Church of Christ. Burl Grubb will officiate and Spry Funeral Home will direct burial in the Legg Cemetery.
Mr. Downs died at his home at 3:40 a.m. Friday.
Surviving are three sons, Home Downs, William Downs and Thomas L. Downs, all of Athens; three daughters, Mrs. Maxine Breedwell, Mrs. Bonnie Mae Blankenship and Mrs. Marie Buchanan, all of Athens; five sisters, Mrs. Dave Hargrove, Flint, Mich., Mrs. Lena Reece and Mrs. Mae Reece, both of Athens, Mrs. Minnie Carter, Bethel, Tenn., and Mrs. Pearl Jenkins, Elkmont; one brothers, Arthur Downs, Athens; 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
