9/1/2015 Message received from FAG 46491189 Laura Charles noting that the burial of Sarah Cartwright Moore was confirmed however there is no tombstone to photograph. We will be putting up a stone in the Spring of 2016 for our 2G-Grandmother and will then make sure a photo is taken.
Sarah Elizabeth Cartwright, 2nd of 4 known children of Samuel Cartwright and his 2nd wife, Minerva Ellis (Samuel's first wife Letty Moore died in 1841), was born July 10, 1844 (Per Baxter Springs Burial Records DOB is 6/22/1844...conflicting information is being researched) in Wilson County, Tennessee.
The Cartwright Family migrated from Wilson County TN to Butler County KY about July 1849 and are found in the 1850 census residing near Francis P and Jane (Cartwright) Davidson's Family (Jane being an older step-sister to Sarah) and Thomas and Mary Cartwright Family (Thomas being an older step-brother to Sarah).
At the age of 14, Sarah was married to James S Moore, age 23, on April 29, 1858 in Butler County, Kentucky where their first child was born in May 1859.
We have yet to find Sarah and Samuel Moore in the 1860 Federal Census, but do find them in the 1865 Kansas Census in Osage Township (Rockford Post Office) in Bourbon County KS residing with Sarah's mother Minerva and brothers William and Joseph Cartwright.
NOTE: The 1865 Census enumerated Sarah Elizabeth as married but listed as Sarah "Cartwright" age 21 born TN...and husband, James S Moore age 29 from VA, enumerated below Sarah also noted as married...HOWEVER, children Samuel Henry (b-May1859 KY) and Sarah Ann "Annie" (b-Jan1865 MO) are NOT enumerated with parents and we have yet to determine if they are with other family.
James and Sarah had 6 known children:
Samuel Henry Moore (m-Bertha Amanda King)
Sarah Anna "Annie" Moore (m1-George W King, m2-Charles Wesley Cole)
James J Moore (m-Annie Myrtle Standeford)
Margaret "Maggie" Lucinda Moore (m-John Barton Marlett)
Ada "Addie" L Moore (m-Albert "Bert" Smith)
Joseph "Jesse" William Moore (m-Minnie Moore)
