Ex-Soldier Follows Wife in Sleeping Potion Death
Grieving because his wife took an overdoes of sleeping tablets and died Aug. 12, a former soldier did the same and died yesterday in Methodist Hospital, the Coroner's office reported.
Mrs. Caryl Jean Carlson, 33, of 1251 W. 58th St., was found dead in her home Aug. 12 by her mother, Mrs. Helen Boyd of 1856 W. 4th Drive. At the time she was separated from her husband, Delmar E. Carlson, 31, who was discharged from the Army April 28, of this year, according to a Coroner's report.
Carlson collapsed a few days ago at his hotel residence, 457 W. Santa Barbara Ave. He left two brief notes, the Coroner's office reported. One said: "Jean, you should never have done it." The other read: "Mother, you can have the $2000."
