In August of 1943 the US Army was able to locate his grave and after photographing the location, the exhumed his body and transported it back to the United States to his final resting place.

1943- Marker on the grave of P-40 pilot F/O Joseph Levy of the U.S. 11th Air Force, 343rd Fighter Group, 18th Fighter Squadron erected by Japanese on Kiska Island. The inscription reads: "Sleeping here a brave air-man who last youth and happiness for his mother land - July 25 Nippon Army"
