(USAAF Sta. 165) B-24H Liberator #42-94811
"Tommy Thumper II" developed engine troubles.
Attempting to return to the airfield, the four-
motored bomber lost power and crashed in Old
Catton, a neighborhood of Norwich, England,
just southeast of modern-day Norwich
International Airport.
All nine Army airmen aboard were killed:

Flt. Off. James R Prendergast, Co-Pilot
Flt. Off. Otto W. Stokes, Navigator
S/Sgt. Clarence J Rachford
Sgt. Floyd W Erickson
Sgt. John F O'Malley, Jr, Radio Operator
Sgt. Leonard B Rostkowski
Sgt. William E Walker, Flt. Engineer
Sgt. Frank C Wassow
