Obituary
Fred Butterfield was born in Newton Center, Bucannan county, Iowa on April 4, 1862 and departed this life on March 26, 1939 in his home near O'Neill, Nebraska at the age of 76 years, 11 months and 26 days.

As a lad of 18 years he came to this community where he became one of the pioneers who helped develop this country and lived throughout the trials and victories which dwellers of Nebraska experienced.

Among his interests was the Modern Woodmen of America, having in his younger life been a member.

In the year of 1884 he was united in marriage to Martha Sterling, to which union one, Leon Butterfield was born. In 1888 he was again married, Miss Belle Vorce becoming
his wife and to this union eleven daughter and one son were born. In 1928 Bessie Shipman became his wife, one daughter being born to this union.

Left to mourn the passing of Mr. Butterfield are the wife and the following children, Leon Butterfield, Kelseyville, Calif.; Edna Boelter, Venus, Nebr.; Orva Sivesend, Royal, Nebr.; Lula Eyer, Santa Monica, Calif.; June Eyer, Portland Ore.; Evedelle Knox, Los Angeles, Calif; Adabelle Rice, Venus, Nebr.; Beulah May, Portland, Ore.; Helen Race, Willmington, Calif.; Ethel Jenkinson, O'Neill, Lila Stamp, Inman and Maxine Butterfield of O'Neill. One daughter and one son preceded him in death. One brother, T. A. Butterfield of Orchard, Nebr. and one sister, Cora Montgomery of Creighton also survive. Among the other relatives are 40 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held from the Venus Church at 2:00 P. M. on Tuesday, March 28th, with Rev. C. F. Wantz of the Orchard U. B. Church in charge. Appropriate songs were sung by a male quartet composed of Bernard and Wally Strope, Ed C. Hoag and Willie Durkey. Elanore Francisco, Lucile Boelter, Lavon and Juanita Rice were flower girls and pallbearers were Leonard and Roy Boelter, Elvon Rice, Kenneth Eyer, Delbert and Francis Boelter.

Burial was in the Enterprise cemetery.— Orchard News.
