Genevieve was the daughter of Greenlee Steele and Barbara Rousch Steele. Her mother, Barbara, died when she was two years old. Her father then married Lucy Ellen Swain who helped to raise Genevieve. She married David Eslie Stewart June 28, 1906 in Sullivan County Indiana. Their children were Lois Mildred Stewart, Thelma Maxine Stewart, Malcolm David Stewart, Harold Steele Stewart, Pauline Agnes Stewart, Freda Stewart and Hobart Stewart.

Mrs. Genevieve Stewart, 93, who lived at the home of her daughter of Indianapolis died Monday at the Johnson County Hospital, Franklin. Her husband, David, died in 1973.
She was a member of the South Meridian Church of God, Royal Neighbors, Delco-Remy Senior citizens Club and Retirees Club.
Surviving are a son and three daughters; 10 grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9p.m. Wednesday at the Rowe and Weston Funeral Home where services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday. The Rev. E. H. Tharp will officiate. Burial will be in the Merom Cemetery in Sullivan County.
