Obituary: Mrs. Carrie McCormick, 88, of 115 West Poplar Street, Harrisburg, died at the Good Shepard nursing home in Galatia at 8:15 a.m. today. She had been seriously ill since October 15. She was the daughter of the late S.H. and Rachel (Roark) Cannon and was born December 7, 1870. She was married to T.R. McCormick who preceded her in death in February of 1949. Mrs. McCormick was a past president of the Harrisburg Woman's club and one of the oldest members of the First Methodist church of Harrisburg. She is survived by her half-sisters, Mrs. Lula McKenzie, Harrisburg, Mrs. Oma Pearce, Chicago, Mrs. Alma Ledbetter and Mrs. Nell Rightmire, Santa Monica, California and her half-brother, Dr. James H. Cannon, Chicago. She was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Cannon, and by her sisters, Mrs. Ida Ridenhour and Mrs. Minnie Berry. The body will lie in state at the Gaskins funeral home where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Ira L. Thetford will officiate and burial will be in the Cottage Grove cemetery. The family has requested that flowers be omitted. Harrisburg "Daily Register," 23 November 1959, page 1.
