M. CHARLOTTE DINGLEY BARTON, 77, of BRICK, died Monday, May 19, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. She was an English teacher at Brick High School for 25 years, retiring in 1994. Born in the Bronx, she lived in Rahway before moving to Brick in 1964. Mrs. Barton was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Wall; a member of the Brick Teachers Education Association; a past Cub Scout den mother in Rahway; a Brick High School class adviser in 1976, and adviser for the school newspaper, the Flame. She graduated Magna Cum Laude at Ocean County College in 1970 and Summa Cum Laude at Georgian Court College, Lakewood, in 1972. She received her Master's Degree from Kean University. She was a past member of the Art and Historical Society of Brick. She was a member of St. Paul's Methodist Church, Brick.

She was predeceased by her husband, Walter A. Barton, in 1967; and a brother, Robert Dingley. Surviving are three sons, Raymond Barton and his wife Pamela of Toms River, Steven Barton and his wife Kathleen of Albany, N.Y., and John Barton and his wife Tracy of Brick; a sister, Dorothy Souchek of Lakewood; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Colonial Funeral Home, 2170 Highway 88, Brick. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, followed by interment at Greenwood Cemetery, Brielle.
