James Roy Nelson, 86, a farmer of Big Clifty, Ky. died December 15, 1982 at Western State Hospital, Hopkinsville, Ky. He was born November 29, 1896 in Grayson County, the son of Franklin D. Nelson and Annie Shelley Nelson. He was the husband of Elva Mattingly Nelson who preceded him in death. / Survivors include one daughter, Betty Nelson of Big Clifty, Ky.; six sons, Wilbur L. Nelson of Louisville, Ky., William F. Nelson of Summit, Ky., Thomas Nelson of Valley Station, Ky., James Albert Nelson of Shively, Ky., Eugene Nelson of Ashland City, Tenn., Carl Nelson of Big Clifty, Ky.; one sister of Liza Allen of Louisville. Seventeen grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren also survive. / Funeral services were held December 17, 1982 at Rogers Funeral Home with interment in Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Rogers Funeral Home.
