James B. "Bert" Abell, 66, died Friday at Baptist Hospital East. He was a native of Marion County, a retired employee of General Electric Co., where he had worked 35 years, and a Navy veteran of World War II. Survivors: his wife, the former Pauline Mudd; a daughter, Betty Thomas; two brothers, Leo Abell of Lebanon and J. B. Abell; five sisters, Louise Thomas, Teresa Mattingly and Clara Hutchins, all of Lebanon, Thelma Haggard of Liberty and Helen Osbourne of Springfield; and two grandchildren. Funeral: 11 a.m. Monday, St. Charles Catholic Church, St. Marys. Burial: church cemetery. Visitation: Bosley Funeral Home, Lebanon, noon-9 p.m. Sunday. Ratterman's - Bardstown Road is in charge of local arrangements. Expressions of sympathy: Mass of the Air.

James B. "Bert" Abell, 66, Louisville, died at 8:30 p.m., Dec. 28,1990, at Baptist Hospital East in Louisville. Abell was a native of Marion County, born April 3, 1924. He was a retired employee of General Electric and a navy veteran of W. W. II. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Celeste Mattingly Abell and one brother, Joseph A. "Alvin" Abell. Survivors include: his wife, Pauline Mudd Abell; one daughter, Mrs. Betty Thomas of Louisville; five sisters, Mrs. Joe "Louise" Thomas, Mrs. Ed "Theresa" Mattingly and Mrs. James "Clara" Hutchins of Lebanon, Mrs. Howard "Thelma" Haggard of Liberty and Mrs. Johnnie "Helen" Osbourne of Springfield; two brothers, Leo of Lebanon and Edward J. Abell of Louisville; two grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m., Dec. 31, 1990, at St. Charles Catholic Church with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Jack Caldwell officiated and was assisted by Rev. Terry Bradshaw and Rev. Vincent Dentinger. Pallbearers were Scott Abell, Philip Mudd Jr., Thomas Haggard, Steve Osbourne, Donnie Hutchins and Joe Bland Ford. Prayer services were held at 7 p.m., Dec. 30, 1990, at Bosley Funeral Home, Lebanon. They were in charge of the arrangements.
