Hazel Blackburn, 93, Largo, Fla., formerly of Sharpsville, died 1:30 a.m., Saturday, May 3, 2008, at Northside Hospital and Heart Institute, St. Petersburg, Fla. Born April 13, 1915, in Grassy, Mo., she was the daughter of the late Harvey A. Acup and the late Hattie M. (Abernathy). On Oct. 7, 1933, she married Reverend Charles D. Blackburn in Gideon, Mo., and he preceded her in death in 1997.

She was a homemaker and pie maker at Violas Restaurant for many years. She was also a member of Bethel Tabernacle. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, cooking and spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include a son, Terry and wife Lisa Blackburn, Largo, Fla.; daughters, Marjorie Utsler, Sharpsville, Judy and husband Bob Brown, St. Petersburg, Fla., and Debe High, Kokomo; and many grand, great-grand, and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, three sons, one daughter, two brothers and one sister.

Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Bethel Tabernacle Church of God Mount Assembly, 661 W. 400 South, Kokomo. Pastor David Cornelius will officiate. Burial will follow in Nevada Cemetery, Nevada. The family will receive friends 4 to 8 p.m., Wednesday at Ellers Mortuary Webster Street Chapel, 3400 S. Webster Street, and also one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.
