Services for Milburn John Baker were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 6, 2008, in the chapel of Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Ball. Interment followed in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Ball.
Mr. Baker, 92, passed away in The Methodist Hospital, Houston, Texas.
Born December 10, 1915 in Atlanta, to the union of Henry Ottie Baker and Adlee Plunkett, he went on to serve his country as a U.S. Navy SeaBee during World War II in the Pacific Theater. After leaving the service, he was employed by Hunt Oil Company as Assistant Superintendent of South Louisiana. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Many, where he was Deacon. He has previously lived in the Sportsman's Paradise of Many, and has resided for the past six years in Houston, Texas.
In addition to his parents, his brother, Leo Baker; his sister, Sylvia Riley; and his daughter-in-law, Sarah Harkins Baker precedes him in death.
Those left behind to cherish his memory include his wife of 69 years, Myrtle C. Baker; one son, Milburn John Baker, Jr.; one sister, Margaret Barry; two grandsons, Milburn John Baker III and his wife Mary Simmons Baker and Jamey Von Baker and his wife, Tabatha Rymes Baker; and four great grandchildren, Courtney Baker, Gregory Baker, William Baker, and Olivia Baker.
