He resided in New York County, New York prior to the war.
He enlisted in the Army Air Corps on October 30, 1942 in New York City, New York. He was noted as being employed as a Stock Clerk and also as Single, without dependents.
Peter was "Killed In Action" when his B-17, while returning from a bombing mission to Bremen, Germany, was hit by enemy flak which caused explosions on his plane and the pilot lost all control due to the damage.
The "Holy Mackeral" ended up running into B-17 (#42-30860) causing them to crash into the Wadden Sea (North Sea). The "Holy Mackeral" also ended up in a crash landing at Kimewerd, South of Harlingen, Holland.
Peter was awarded the Air Medal and the Purple Heart.
He was originally interred in the Netherlands and was later repatriated here on January 28, 1949.
