She lived most of her adult life in Thomasville. Mrs. McChesney was retired from the Thomasville City Schools, where she taught for all but three of the 44 years of her teaching career. Having taught two generations of students, she counted many of her students among her friends. She was a member of First Methodist Church, where she served on the board, the Wesleyan Service Guild, where she served as an officer, and a member and an officer of the Nocturne Garden Club and Tallyho Garden Club.
She has no descendants.
