MRS. NORA E. SHAWN
Mrs. Nora Elizabeth Shawn died at 3 o'clock Sunday morning at her home in the south west part of Fletcher, following a long illness, age 71 years, 3 months and 13 days.
Funeral services wre conducted in the Fletcher Baptist church at 2:30 o'clock Monday afternoon by Rev Floyd Sanders of Fletcher, following which interment was made in the Fletcher cemetery with the Wisener funeral home in charge.
Nora Elizabeth Head was born at Randolph Alabama, on April 23, 1868. She was united in marriage with R. D. Shawn in Parker county, Texas on August 1, 1889 and had she lived two weeks longer they would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
To this union were born six children, three of whom are living as follows: William E. of Hatfield, Ark., Oscar E. of Parker county, Texas and Homer V. of Hatfeld, Ark. Karl died at Velma, Okla. at the age of 30 years, Mrytle died at the age of 4 and Clarence at the age of 2, both in Parker county, Texas.
She is also survived by two brothers, William Head of Stonewall and Charles Head of Mountain View. William was present at the funeral but Charles could not attend on account of the funeral of his wife's father on the same day. Mr. and Mrs. O. E. Shawn and five children, Margaret, Buford, Donald, Curtis and Virgie also were present.
At the age of 13 she moved with her parents to Parker County, Texas. The family came to Oklahoma 34 years ago and moved to Fletcher on November 7, 1937. She was a member of the Baptist Church.
NOTES: The marriage record in the Courthouse lists the date of marriage as 2 August 1891. Also, although the obituary gives her middle name as Elizabeth (her mother's middle name), her name is listed as Nora Isabell Head on the Application for Account Number filed by Oscar Ellis Shawn on 24 May 1937. Most family records give her middle name as Isabell.
