Birth: Dec. 25, 1881
Death: Oct. 17, 1945
Kings County (Brooklyn)
New York, USA

Max was my great-grandfather. Although his gravestone has that he was 62 when he died in 1945 (making him born in 1883), I have various records which have his date of birth anywhere from 1879 to 1886, and different Months and days. He was most likely born Dec 25, 1881. His place of birth is also controversial - anywhere from Russia, England and New York. He was probably born in Russia before his parents arrived in England on their way to the US as I have never been able to locate a birth record in England for him.

His burial is controversial also, as the cemetery association was unable to find Max initially because they have him as died in 1935. His death certificate definitely states 1945, and my father remembers his grandfather VERY well. If Max had died in 1935, my father would have been 1 year old, and would not have remembered him. Also, I have photos of my father at about age 10 with his grandfather.

Additionally, the cemetery association shows that Max and his wife Fannie are buried in two separate locations in the cemetery. That might be true, as the gravestone looks fairly new. But since my family didn't have anything to do with my great-grandmother from about 1960 on (her choice), who knows? Perhaps her surviving children decided to put up one gravestone. In any case the joint stone is all that there is.
