Born 23 Dec 1889 in Glasgow Scotland, son of Thomas and Susan (nee. Darragh) Brawley. Immigrated to New York in 1910. He was a member of the famed fighting 69th (made up mostly of Celtic out of New York).He was a Corporal in Company C. and a recipient of the distinguished Croix De Guerre. He served with Father Francis P. Duffy who wrote the story about these heroic men and he was mentioned in Father Duffy's book: Father Duffy's story; a tale of humor and heroism, of life and death with the Fighting Sixty-ninth (1919),(which led to a motion picture "The Fighting 69th" starring James Cagney circa 1940).
