Mary Catherine Charlotte Huenefeld was born 5 March 1870 at Higginsville, Lafayette County, MO, the third of eleven children born to William Henry and Wilhelmina Christina (Schoppenhorst) Huenefeld. At the age of 19, Mary married William Charles Lichte, 14 Nov 1889, at the home of her parents and wearing the dress she is said to have made. The couple had seven children, six surviving to adulthood. Mrs. Lichte was a talented homemaker with her homemade coffee cakes, quilts, crocheted items, and other, fondly recalled by her grandchildren. Surviving her husband by 11 years, Mrs. Lichte lived independently in her own home in Bland until the last few months of her life. She passed away at the home of her daughter, Verna Miller, 2 January 1864, in Troy, MO.
