Maria (Woodruff) Deveaux was the daughter of Ezekial and Sarah "Sally" (Hall) Woodruff. Maria was the 1st wife of Samuel DeVeaux. They were married about 1813 during the turbulent days of the War of 1812. He was the founder of DeVeaux College in Niagara Falls, New York, and died in the cholera epidemic of 1852.
