US Congressman. He was a farmer, served as Major in the Battle of Blue Licks, Kentucky, in 1782 and was commanding officer of the 3rd Sublegion, US Army Infantry, 1792 to 1793. He was a member of the State House of Representatives of the first legislature of Kentucky in 1792 and served in the State Senate, 1800 to 1801. In 1803, he was elected as a Republican to the Eighth and Ninth Congresses, serving until 1807. Not seeking re-nomination, he engaged in agricultural pursuits until his death. US Congressman Henry Bedinger from Virginia was his nephew.
