A. Herman Conaway, 92, of Parkersburg passed away Feb. 20, 2008, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Parkersburg.

He was born Aug. 8, 1915, in Ritchie County, a son of the late Newton Elza Conaway and Marguerite Lee Reeves Conaway Cokeley. He was a 1934 graduate of Ritchie County High School.

Herman was a long time member of the Church of the Good Shepherd, Episcopal, where he served with the church vestary. He had owned and operated the Pine View Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Harrisville and the Mound View Health Care Center in Moundsville. He served as health care facility administrator, was a member and past president of the West Virginia Health Care Association,
served on the Bi-Law and Constitution Committee of the American Health Care Association and was a member of the West Virginia Nursing Home Administrative Board and was also a member of the Parkersburg Rotary Club.

Surviving is his son, Larry N. Conaway and his wife, Jennifer, of Parkersburg; his daughter, Lynda Conaway Kirk and her former husband, William E. Kirk, of Parkersburg; grandchildren, Melanie Parrish, Michael Conaway, David Conaway, Amanda Kirk Lynch and her husband, Jared, Jered Kirk and granddaughter-in-law, Linda Sue Kirk; and great-grandchildren, Erica Parrish, Adrienna Conaway, Alex Conaway, Lindsey Conaway, McKaylee Ryan and Matthew Lynch.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma Martin Conaway in 2002; a granddaughter, Cinda Kirk; a grandson, Jeffery Kirk; a half-brother, Omer Morris; and a half-sister, Elsie Conaway Ahrendt.

The funeral service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at the Church of the Good Shepherd, Episcopal, at 903 Charles Street, Parkersburg. The Rev. Dr. Arthur L. Bennett III will officiate and burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. The visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today and from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St., Parkersburg.
