A resident of Baton Rouge, James Joseph "Jim" Longacre, 81, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 17, 2008, at his home. Born near Chicago on Aug. 2, 1926, to Charles and Marion Longacre. He moved all around the country with his family before making Baton Rouge his home. Jim graduated from Baton Rouge High and LSU. On Aug. 4, 1951, he married his true love, Mary Ann Keene. He was a veteran of the Korean War, the president of Longacre Corp. for more than 40 years, a past chairman of The Istrouma Area Council Boy Scouts of America, a member of First United Methodist Church, and a lifetime member of the Door and Hardware Institute. Jim was an avid gardener. He was a caring man who was deeply devoted to his family.

He is survived by his son, Charles "Chuck" Longacre and his wife, Susan Jackson; his daughter, Kate Finn and her husband, Brian; his beloved grandsons, Kevin and Andrew Finn; his sister, Marion Voudouris; and his sister-in-law, Kitty Longacre.

Preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary Ann; and his brother, Lloyd; and his mother-in-law, Kate G. Keene.

Arrangements entrusted to Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St. Burial in Roselawn Cemetery on North Street.
