Thursday, May 10, 1917, Terre Haute Tribune, Sullivan, IN. Dory Eaton, 80 years old, died at his home here last night (May 9) after a long illness with heart trouble. The funeral will be held at the residence at 1 o'clock Thursday afternoon and will be conducted by the Rev. J. F. Ecull, pastor of the Methodist church. Burial will be in the Burnett cemetery in Gill township.

Mr Eaton was born in Gill township, Sullivan County in 1837. He was a son of William and Mary (Hunt) Eaton, pioneers of the county.

He was married in 1862 to Miss Margaret Vickery, who survives with the following children: Mrs John Hunt, Mrs Fred Haupt and Oscar Eaton of this city, and Corty Eaton of Gill township.

He was a brother of Mrs Mary Miles of this city and Mrs Ben A Allan of near New Lebanon. Mesha Eaton, a brother died at his home here 10 days ago.

Mr Eaton lived on his farm in Gill township until about 12 years ago, when he retired and moved here to live.

"Dory Eaton born June 19, 1837, the ninth of eleven children born to William and Mary Hunt Eaton, both natives of Kentucky who came to Indiana in 1816. Dory remained with his parents until he was 25 years old, when on Jan. 30, 1862, he married Martha J. Vickery, daughter of Ninevah and Nancy Hopewell Vickery. To this union seven children have been born, four of whom are now livingóLora, Courtney, Nanie V. and Oscar D., aged 19, 14, 9, and two months, respectively. Farmer, 80 acres of good land. A Methodist and a Democrat."
