Josephine peacefully passed away on April 7, 2008 with her family by her side at CareSource Hospice in Holladay, Utah.







She was born on August 25, 1917 in Salt Lake City, Utah to immigrant parents, Angelo Gertino and Eva Martellaro Gertino. She was the fourth of six children and was proud of her heritage from which she learned the value of hard work. She graduated from South High School and later married the love of her life, John, whom she met while working at her parents' restaurant. They were married at St. Patrick's Church on December 15, 1945, and together they shared a life of raising their children. She was a wonderful mother who brought great strength to her family and made childhood and holidays a delight. She had a positive attitude and was always there for her children, grandchildren and others as well. She was well loved and will be greatly missed by her family, friends and neighbors. She was an accomplished gardener, entertainer and cook.







Preceded in death by her parents, husband, John George. Sons, Infant Tony, John (Buster) who passed away December 9, 2007. Brothers, Frank and Kelly. Son-in-law, Gary Barber. She is survived by her daughter, Kathleen Barber and her son, George. Sisters, Mary Gertino, Katherine Hill (Blaine), Virginia Langford (Robert). Grandchildren and great-grandchildren.






A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, April 11, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Ann's Catholic Church, 450 East 2100 South. A Vigil Service will be held Thursday 7:30 p.m. at the Neil O'Donnell & Sons Mortuary, 372 East 100 South. Friends may call from 6:00-7:30 p.m. also at the Mortuary.
Committal: Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery 4th Ave. & T Street.
