JAMES JASPER KNIGHT DIES AUGUST 11 AFTER ILLNESS
Funeral services were held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. James Bender for her father, James Jasper Knight, Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, August 13. The prayer was offered and the hymns read by Rev. L. A. Ruegsegger. Rev. Grant L. Jordan gave the funeral address. The burial service took place at the Ridge cemetery.
Mr. Knight was a son of Daniel H. and Catherine E. Knight, and was born February 16, 1873, in Scott, Ohio. The first 25 years of his life he lived in Ohio. He married Miss Sarah Ralston May 19, 1894. Four children were born to them, three dying in infancy. Mr. Knight and family went to the state of Washington in 1898. At the end of a year they returned East and came to Gladwin county, Michigan, where they have since lived the greater part of the time in Sage township. He had many friends and was known by the name of "Jap".
He died Sunday, August 11, at 3 a.m. at the home of his daughter, Mrs. James Bender, having been in poor health a number of years. He is survived by his wife, his daughter, Mrs. Eva Bender, two grandchidlren, Dorothy and James Bender, five sisters and one brother, Mrs. L. M. Walters of Roscommon county, Miss Eva Knight of Saginaw, Mrs. R. P. Webb, Mrs. W. L. Snyder, Miss Laura Knight and Norman W. Knight of Gladwin.
