HELEN CORA WENGERT BUHLER's strong heart beat its last when she left this earth to be with her heavenly father on Saturday, Sept. 25, 2004.

Helen was born Sept. 6, 1919, in Detroit, Mich., to Elizabeth Emma Rodway and Harry Newburn Baxendale. She was the younger of two daughters. She moved away to New York when she met Norman Wengert, and they wedded in 1940. After Norman's service in the military, they took their 4-year-old daughter, Barbara, to Seward, Alaska, to homestead. Helen worked as a head woman in the nursery of a children's orphanage, where she cared for small children and treated them as if they were her own. While living in Alaska, they had three more children, Norman, Tom and Susan. After many years, they returned to the east coast and moved to Oklahoma where their youngest son, Gary, was born.

Helen and Norman moved to Idaho in 1961 and a few years later Norman passed away due to a heart attack. She continued with work and raising her kids and caring for foster kids. She always kept herself busy and hard at work. She remarried to Howard Buhler in 1974, and he later passed on in 1982. She lived her life to the fullest and never knew a stranger. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She will be greatly missed by those who were touched by her kindness and words of wisdom.

Helen is survived by her sister, Louise Edith Houston; two daughters, Susan Ewalt and Barbara Nelson; three sons, Mike Wengert, Tom (Arlene) Wengert and Gary (Mary) Wengert; stepdaughter, Maggie Henderson; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Her parents and two husbands preceded her in death. Helen's family would like to say a special thank you to the Cottage Staff at BridgeView for all the care and support you showed to her and us. We greatly appreciate everything you did for the family and giving our mother/grandmother comfort. A funeral will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2004, at the 9th Ward L.D.S. Chapel, 3155 Elizabeth Blvd., Twin Falls, with Bishop Glenn Arrington conducting. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. Friends may call from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. on Wednesday at the church. Services are under the direction of White Mortuary, "Chapel by the Park."
