Having been a widow for 50 years, Nora was preceded in death by her husband Thomas Jefferson Smith; her parents Charles & Rachel Keller; and eight of her 12 children: Melvin, Charlie, and Barton in a freak accident in 1925, Loetta at the age of 7 in 1928, infant Oscar "Pricey-Boy" in 1930, Fred in 1967, Gordon in 1970, and Bama Pope in 1982.

She was survived by four children: Klonnie Ferguson and Delta Jones (who both died a few months after their mother), NaOla Wofford, and T.J. Smith, as well as several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
