Blue Harrell was the son of Noah Harrell and Elizabeth Blue. He was born March 20, 1806 in Ohio County, Kentucky. The land where the Harrells lived fell into the newly created Grayson County, Kentucky in 1810. Blue was married four times.

Blue's first wife was Susannah Stinson, daughter of William Stinson and 1/w Mollie McDaniel. Susannah was born June 13, 1807, probably in Pendleton County, South Carolina. She died April 18 1837 in Grayson County and was buried in the Miller Cemetery. Blue and Susannah were the parents of:
William - b. 7 Jan 1829 / d. 25 Nov 1879
Alfred - b. 11 Aug 1831 / d. 24 Mar 1870
Elizabeth - b. 24 Feb 1833 / d. 14 Apr 1878
Joel Blue - b. 8 Jun 1836 / d. 16 May 1849

Blue's second wife was Susannah's sister, Margaret (Stinson) Bratcher. She was born on November 13, 1801 in (Pendleton County), North Carolina. She died on April 15, 1843 near Caneyville and was buried in the Miller Cemetery. They had no children. She and Bratcher had three children.

Blue's third wife was Mary E. "Polly" Patterson, the daughter of James Patterson and Rebecca Troutman. She was born March 24, 1810 in Grayson County. She died on March 23, 1849, sometime after the birth of their daughter Martha Jane. Polly was buried in the Moorman Cemetery.

Blue's fourth wife was Mary McDaniel, the daughter of James McDaniel and Lydia Bratcher. She was born September 24 1817 in Grayson Cunnty. She died February 27, 1900 in Grayson County and was buried in the Landis Cemetery with Blue. They were the parents of:
Lydia A. - b. 10 Feb 1852
Uriah Blue - b. 31 Aug 1854 / d. 30 Mar 1942
Susan A. - b. 10 Apr 1856 / d. 26 Feb 1926.

At the time of the 1880 Census of Leitchfield, Grayson County, Kentucky the Blue Harrell family consisted of: Blue, a farmer, age 74; his wife Mary, age 63; and grandsons: Thomas Patterson, age 15, who was working as a Farm Laborer; and Lulissis Patterson, age 12.

Blue Harrell died at the age of 83 years, 2 months and 3 days on July 23, 1889 and was buried in what is now known as the Landis Cemetery south of Leitchfield, Grayson County, Kentucky.
