Final Rites for John Sherman Held At Plainfield, Friday

PLAINFIELD – John Henry Sherman, 57, passed away at the Wisconsin General hospital in Madison at 4 p.m. Sept. 23, where he had been a patient about four months. Cause of death was cancer. Funeral services were held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Baptist church with Rev. Wendell Hansen officiating and burial was in the Plainfield cemetery.

He was born in the town of Plainfield, Sept. 6, 1890. His parents were Mr. and Mrs. Henry Sherman, Sr. He spent his whole life in central Wisconsin.

He was married to Dora Chalker Sept. 3, 1910 at Brantwood. Seven children were born to this union and all are living.

Surviving relatives besides his wife, are the seven children, Dennis Sherman and Mrs. Leta Erickson of Milwaukee; Delos Sherman of Sheboygan Falls; Mrs. Mirilla Bartotto, Marvin Sherman (illegible word ending in field) and Laurel Sherman home on emergency leave from the U.S. Marines. Two brothers, Ora of Bancroft, Ed of Tripeli; a sister, Mrs. Mina Stainbrook of Bancroft, 14 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
