Obituary
Willis Guidry, age 86, passed away Tuesday, March 18, 2008 at 6:00 p.m. at River Oaks Retirement Manor in Lafayette.
Mr. Guidry was a native and lifelong resident of Cankton and was a parishioner of St. John Berchman Roman Catholic Church. Prior to his retirement, Mr. Guidry was a farmer.
Survivors include two sons, Michael Wayne Guidry and his wife, Dianne, of Sunset and Carl Benjamin Guidry and his former wife, Rebecca Guidry, of Cankton; three daughters, Linda G. Prejean and her husband, Curley, of Arnaudville, Christine G. Putnal and her husband, Edward, of Scott, and Sadie "Cathy" Guidry of Cankton; sixteen grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; two brothers, Sidney Guidry and his wife, Irene, of Lafayette, and Eddie Guidy and his wife, Ella, of Church Point; and two sisters, Ethel Guilbeau of Carencro, and Lettie LaGrange of Cankton.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Roberta Guilbeau Guidry, his parents, Jean Guidry and the former Elana Trahan, both natives of Cankton; one son, Donald Guidry, one step-son, Roland Roger; one brother, Curlis Guidry; and one sister, Lelia Menard.
Interment in St. John Berchmans Cemetery in Cankton. The Rev. Henry J. Broussard, pastor of St. John Berchmans Catholic Church, will officiate at the services.
Melancon Funeral Home of Carencro, 4615 North University Avenue, Louisiana was in charge of arrangements.
