Marie Winningham Love, 84, of Paris died Thursday, May 12, 2005, at her residence.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 14, in Gene Roden's Funeral Home Chapel with Patrick Cannon officiating. Interment follows in Meadowbrook Gardens under the direction of Gene Roden's Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
She was born Aug. 5, 1921 in Honey Grove, the daughter of Gerald Dee Winningham and Ethel Elizabeth Bullington. She graduated from Honey Grove High School and Sherman Beauty Academy. She was married to David Warren Rowton Jr. on Jan. 13, 1940, Charles Greenwood on June 4, 1957 and Joseph Clayton Love on Dec. 31, 1960.
She owned and operated Klip-n-Kirl beauty salon for over 50 years. She was president of the Hair Dresser's Association of Paris and performed as a platform hairstylist at multiple beauty shows for the Roux Company. She was a lifetime member of the Beta Sigma Phi and chosen woman of the year five times and she was sweetheart of Eta Delta Chapter. She was a member of Altrusa of America where she was elected president and woman of the year. While acting as president she started the Vial of Life program. This program spread from Texas to New York and on to the west coast. She wrote a book that was published in over 47 languages.
She became a member of the Elk's Lodge organization, The Does, and in 1981 was elected President of the organization. As a 14 year member, she held every office in the organization, and helped at the local Elks Lodge and Lake Project. She was a charter member and life member of the Does. She was one of three ladies who began the Ladies Auxiliary in St. Joseph's Hospital.
She was a member of The Art Study Club in Paris. She also held many offices in this organization such as president, secretary and treasurer. While acting as president, she started scholarships to further education of student artists at Paris Junior College. She was honored numerous times through the Paris Art Fair for her art work. She enjoyed lawn and gardening, collecting antiques, big band music, dancing and reading.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph "Lusty" Clayton Love Sr. on March 22, 1987.
Survivors include her son, Gerald David Rowton and wife, Joyce, of Blossom; step-son, Joseph Clayton Love Jr. and his wife Lisa, of Paris; grandchildren, Deidra Kaye Sims and husband, Scott, Joyce Marie Lee-Rowton and David Clayton Rowton and wife, Autumn; step-grandchildren, Shaunee Love Wagnon and husband, Harley and Daniel Clayton Love; step-great-grandchild, Kaelyn Wagnon.

Pallbearers will be Larry McGee, Dick Frierson, Bob Kelley, Dan Winningham, A.W. Winningham and Scott Sims.
