β’ ATOKA -- Service for Ruth Roberson Crites, 55, Caney, were Friday at Brown's Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Harold Brewer and Terry Callicoat officiating. Interment followed at New Zion Cemetery.
Born Jan. 18, 1947, in Atoka to Hurley Albro and Annie Lenore Lewis McDaniel, she died April 2, 2002, at an Oklahoma City hospital.
She married Bill Roberson on July 14, 1963, in Atoka. She later married Joe Crites on July 17, 1998, in Caney.
She attended school in Atoka. She worked for a number of years at Atoka Abstract Office and later worked for 10 years at the Atoka Tag Agency. She was a member of Caney Pentecostal Holiness Church and a former member and pastor's wife of Atoka Full Gospel Church for more than 20 years. She taught Sunday school and was very active in the church and community.
Survivors include her husband of the home; a daughter, Dana Morris, Atoka; a son, Chad Robertson, Atoka; three stepchildren, Clint Crites, Tammy Doshier and Jody Baughman, all of Caney; three sisters, Betty Shores and Loretta Kent, both of Tushka, and Viola Robbins, Wilson; four grandchildren; eight stepgrandchildren; and one great-stepgrandchild.
Bearers were Joe Lang, David Brown Jr., Leon Roberson, Charles Roberson, S.L. Roberson, Zelbert Roberson, Charles Roberson, Junior Roberson and Bob Wyrick. Honorary bearers were Merl Cole, Terry Callicoat, Paul James, Cliff Elliott, Leon Crites, Dan Crites, Eddie Broughton, Ocie Broughton, Bobby Noak, Mike Wharton and Jay Smith.
