The tonsorial talents of Wayne G. Wille who owned and operated a barber shop in Grafton for several decades, were well known to area residents.
However, the caring nature of a man who used his time and talents to help others is what family and friends will miss most about Mr. Wille, his wife Minne said.
"He was very active in so many things," Mrs. Wille said. "He loved being around people and doing volunteer work."
Two days before his death last week from injuries suffered in a motorcycle accident in Sheboygan County, Mr. Wille and his wife worked as volunteers at Summerfest in Milwaukee.
It was one of many charitable efforts by Mr. Wille, whose contributions included volunteer work with Milwaukee area theatres and other entertainment venues as well as civic organizations.
"He was a very giving person. No matter how busy he was, he always found time," Mrs. Wille said.
Mr. Wille, 59, of 1517 Cedar Drive, Port Washington, died Friday, July 6, at Froedert Memorial Lutheran Hospital Wawautosa.
A longtime Ozaukee County resident, he ran Plaza Barber Stylist in the Twin City Plaza in Grafton for more than 35 years.
He was born January 16, 1942, in Mendota, Illinois, to Elmer and Florence Schmitz-Wille.
After his family moved to Wisconsin, Mr. Wille lived in the Saukville area. He attended cosmetology school in Illinois and worked at several barber shops before opening his Grafton business in the mid-1960's.
Mr. Wille earned the reputation as a friendly, skilled barber who enjoyed talking and joking with his customers as well as offering advice, his wife said.
"He loved his work. It was a passion of his," she said. "He would commiserate with anyone. He would go there and have so much fun with his customers."
He would say, "I am going there so I don't have to work."
An avid bowler, Mr. Wille sponsored bowling teams for more than 20 yeaers at Circle B Recreation Center in Cedarburg.
He also enjoyed motorcycling and bicycling.
"Wayne used to be in a Bicycle Club. He would ride up to 50 miles a day," his wife said.
Mr. Wille met Minnie Gibson-Beard while they were is a square dancing group. They were married November 25, 1995, in Las Vegas, uniting two large families that included 11 children.
"He really loved his family, including his step-children." Mrs.Wille said. "Every year we would have a celebration with all of the children there."
"This year's was such a great party. Before the night was over, Wayne told me with tears in his eyes that he wouldn't trade his family for anything. He was that happy."

"He was such a good, fun-loving man," she said. My life will not be the same without him."
Mr. Wille is survived by his mother of Cedarburg, his wife of Port Washington; six children: Steve (Julie) of Appleton, Krista (John) Michaels of Sheboygan, Erik (Kimberly) and Jason (Jennifer), both of West Bend, and Robin (Brett) Dotzauer, and Nathan, both of Grafton; and five step-children, Theodore (Bobbie)Beard of Milwaukee, and Michael, Cornelius (Dede)Beard, Linda Beard and Robert Beard, all of St. Paul, Minn; and 10 grandchildren.
He is also survived by his brother Glenn (Kathy) of Cedarburg, sister, Carol Frymark of Menomonee Falls and former wife, Sandra Michalski.
He was preceded in death by his father, his brother Dennis and brother-in-law, Robert Frymark.
A memorial Mass was to be held at 7 p.m., on Wednesday, July 11, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Grafton. Father Mike Barrett was to officiate.
Visitation was to be held at the church from 5 p.m. until time of service.
Inurnment will be at Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery in Newburg.
