Jean D. Ginn
Mrs. Jean D. Ginn, age 73, of Smyrna, DE, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 8, 2008, at Kent General Hospital, Dover, DE, surrounded by her beloved family.
Mrs. Ginn was born in Wilmington on April 22, 1934, daughter of the late Kermit Jacob Groh and Mildred Jeannetta Guthrie Groh. A member of the Conrad High School Class of 1952, she later earned her diploma from James H. Groves Adult High School. She worked as a professional tax preparer with H & R Block for 35 years before her retirement in 2000. In her leisure hours, Mrs. Ginn enjoyed reading, solving crossword puzzles, crocheting, and, in earlier years, gardening around her home. A devout Christian with a strong faith in the Lord, she found great comfort and inspiration in reading her Bible daily. Mrs. Ginn will be long remembered as a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who delighted in spending time with her cherished family.
Her beloved husband, Harold R. Ginn, Sr., died in 1998. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Donald Groh. She is survived by her 4 children, Harold R. Ginn, Jr. and his partner, Henry R. Randolph; Diane Walker and her husband, Richard; Cindy Cooper and her husband, John; and Marshall A. Ginn and his wife, Karen; brother, K. Allen Groh and his wife, Gerry; sister, Nancy Lee Groh Coale and her husband, Rod; sister-in-law, Helen Groh (wife of the late Donald); special friends, Fran and Paul Bryant; 6 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 11 am, on Friday, March 14, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where friends may call after 10 am. Interment will follow in Forest Cemetery, Middletown, DE.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 30 E. 33rd Street, Ste. 1100, New York, NY 10016; or to the American Diabetes Association, 100 W. 10th St., Ste. 1002, Wilmington, DE 19801.
