She had an excellent classical education. She could read Greek, and both read and speak Latin, German, English, and French. Her grandfather, FA Engelke was a stern man, and insisted on perfect grammar. As a result, when walking through town, if she saw her grandfather, she would cross the street to try to avoid him, specifically because her French was not as good as her grandfather wished.

She would keep cards in her purse with intellectual topics. If the conversation ever lagged she would take out a card to use as a prompt.

After being married, she spent most of her Life living in Houston.

She bought an electric car, since it was so difficult to start a gasoline powered car by crank. However, she was disappointed with how far she could drive it on a charge.

After her husband suffered a stroke, they had only gasoline powered cars, but had a chauffeur to attend to all outside yard care, all car maintenance as well as driving.
